Installing a New Wood Fence in Houston, TX

A fence can be a valuable addition to any home or business. It offers privacy and security while enhancing the aesthetics of your property’s exterior. Overall, installing a fence can be a worthwhile investment for your property.

However, before diving into the exciting world of Houston fence installation, you should consider several crucial factors to ensure you make the best choice for your needs. Before installing a new fence, here are some of the factors to consider so you can confidently embark on your fencing project.

What To Consider Before Seeking Houston Fence Installation Services

These are some key considerations to consider if you’re interested in installing a new fence.

Function

Determine the primary function of your new wood fence. Are you interested in a fence that can give you privacy, enhance security against prying eyes, or add curb appeal to your property? Understanding the purpose of your fence will help you choose the right design, height, and materials to meet your specific needs.

Think about how the fence will complement your lifestyle or business operations. For homeowners, installing a wooden fence is enough to create a safe space for children and pets to play. For business owners, a fence can serve as a deterrent to trespassers and enhance the professional appearance of the property.

Local Regulations and Permits

Before beginning any new fence installation project in Houston, you should check local regulations and obtain the necessary permits. Zoning laws, neighborhood association rules, and property line restrictions may dictate your fence’s type, height, and location. By adhering to local regulations and obtaining the required permits, you can avoid potential fines or legal issues down the road.

Cost

Budget considerations, including a new fence installation, are integral to any home improvement project. When planning your budget for a new wood fence, consider the cost of materials, labor, permits, and any additional features or customization you desire.

Additionally, choosing high-quality materials and professional installation may require a higher initial investment but can save you money on repairs and replacements in the future.

Materials

Wood fences come in various materials, colors, and finishes, each offering unique benefits and aesthetic appeal. Common options for wood fencing include cedar, pine, and redwood, each with its own level of durability, resistance to rot and pests, and maintenance requirements.

Consider factors such as your local climate, exposure to sunlight, and desired lifespan. A reputable fence contractor can help you choose the best wood species for your specific needs and provide expert guidance on maintenance to ensure your fence stands the test of time.

Durability and Maintenance

Wood fences are known for their natural beauty and warmth but require regular maintenance to keep them looking their best. Routine tasks such as staining, sealing, and repairs are essential to protect your fence from the elements and prolong its lifespan.

Choose fences with a level of maintenance you can commit to. For example, while cedar and redwood naturally resist decay and insects, they still require periodic maintenance to maintain their appearance and structural integrity.

Style and Aesthetics

Your fence is a prominent feature of your property, so choosing a style and design that complements your home or business’s architecture and enhances its overall curb appeal is essential. Whether you prefer a traditional picket fence, a modern horizontal slat design, or a rustic split rail fence, there are endless options to suit your taste and preferences.

When exploring Houston fence installation options, take the time to browse through different styles and consider how they will integrate with your landscaping and exterior design elements. A well-designed fence can enhance the beauty of your property and create a welcoming atmosphere for visitors and guests.

Height and Security

Consider what height and level of security is appropriate for your property. Taller fences offer increased privacy and security, while lower fences may be more suitable for maintaining an open and welcoming feel.

When discussing your needs with your contractor, communicate your security concerns and any specific requirements for height or features such as gates and locks. A professionally installed fence can provide peace of mind, knowing your property is protected and secure.

Fences That Improve Your Property

Installing a fence in Houston, TX, is an exciting opportunity to enhance your property’s functionality, aesthetics, and security. Project: Wood Fence - Repair

Windgusts knocked a portion of our fence down into a neighbor's yard. We needed new posts to be cement-set, and a full 1/3 of our fence to be replaced to be more sturdy. We also wanted our fence to be re-stained and sealed. After our fence was knocked down, we began a fervent search online to find a fencing company that was local, legitimate, and seemed to have a strong ethical commitment to their clients. Several out of state companies rush into areas with wind gusts to repair the fence poorly, and then take off so that their warranty isn't enforceable. As Good As New LLC is a long-standing company in the area, and had a faith-based business ethics system that was attractive to us. They sent an inspector out to give us an estimate, and his knowledge-base on good fencing was very impressive. They didn't try to upsell us whatsoever, and even prevented us from spending money on some 'upgrades' than we were planning on that weren't worth it for our situation. Their team completed the re-fencing, sealing, and staining in less than one day. They were kind enough to re-do a few of our sprinkler heads in the backyard to make the water flow more efficient with the positioning of the new fence. The price was great for a fantastic job, and our fence is by far the best on our street. :)
